„Morphogenetic Fields“ Oana Ionel (1984 – 2023)

Oana Ionel had been fascinated by the concept of morphogenetic resonance by British author and parapsychological researcher, Rupert Sheldrake (born 1942).
“Sheldrake’s morphic resonance posits that “memory is inherent in nature” and that “natural systems … inherit a collective memory from all previous things of their kind.” Sheldrake proposes that it is also responsible for “telepathy-type interconnections between organisms.” His advocacy of the idea offers idiosyncratic explanations of standard subjects in biology such as development, inheritance, and memory. (Wikipedia, 25. April 2024).
Oana Ionel followed the idea, that there is a connection between all humans and a joint memory of all living creatures. This is expressed in her artistic, especially when she is describing the Danube Region as one cultural space of ethnical diversity.
As well in her curatorial work Oana Ionel used the concept and described exhibitions, as 2018 in Kaledeidoscope, Bucharest a very well received group show of the „School of Cluj” with works by Adrian Ghenie, Mircea Cantor, Ciprian Muresan, Serban Savu ect. The exhibited works came from private collections only.
This exhibition is taking place by occasion of the 40th birthday of Oana Ionel, which we celebrate this year.
The shown artworks are from private collections in UK, Switzerland, Germany and Romania. It is the first time, that different styles, as naturalistic painting in portraits, describing hypnotic situations, and lzrical abstract work by the artist are shown together.
As well the exhibition describes Oana Ionel further more then a painter. She described her perceptions as well in photography and video art, which is shown here as well, as an excerpt of the work of Oana Ionel.
After all this exhibition should give an overview about the work of an exceptional artist and great personality.
